Septic Tanks
Your septic tank is the first part of your septic system, it is used for a place for the house hold waste to flow into and start the treatment process. After the new waste enters the septic tank it dispenses water on the solid side of the tank over to the liquid side of the tank then out to your disposal field. In your septic tank there are different layers that form. On the bottom of the tank you have your heavy solids, in the middle you have your clear effluent, and on top you have your scum layer. It is important that your septic tank is working properly to ensure that your disposal field does not plug up and cause premature failure. We at Pump-Tech recommend to clean and inspect your tank once a year to ensure proper operation. Spring or early summer is the best time to do this to allow enough time for bacteria to establish itself before the weather turns cold. Signs of tank failure are easy to spot. Solids from tank are getting over to the liquid side, crumbling concrete (if you have a concrete septic tank), rain water entering tank means it is time to fix or replace your tank. At Pump-Tech we specialize in septic tank replacements. There are three types of materials used in construction of septic tanks. Fiberglass, Polyethylene, and concrete. Give Pump-Tech a call and we will help you choose the right one for you. Back to Septic |
